The answer

Views only matter if they become conversations. End posts with a comment keyword that delivers a useful resource by DM, borrow larger audiences by appearing on other people’s podcasts, and film once then publish everywhere. Together these turn a small content effort into a steady flow of named, consented leads.

Why content gets views but no inquiries

Why do law firm posts generate views but no consultations? Because the only call to action is “call us”, which is a large step for someone who is merely curious. Why? Because the firm has no intermediate offer. Why does reach stay small? Because the firm only posts to its own audience and spreads effort across every platform at once. The root causes are a missing middle step and a distribution plan that relies on audiences the firm has not built yet.

Step 1: Capture leads with a comment keyword

End posts with “Comment [WORD] and I’ll send you [specific resource].” An automated DM delivers the resource and asks one question. The comment signals engagement to the platform, which widens distribution, and gives you a named conversation instead of an anonymous view.

  1. Create a resource worth commenting for: a one-page checklist, a short guide or a template letter. “The 7 documents to gather after a car accident” beats “Free legal guide”.
  2. Choose one short, unique keyword per resource (DOCS, RULES, CHECKLIST).
  3. Set up the automation with an approved messaging tool that uses the platform’s official API. The trigger is the keyword in a comment; the response is a DM.
  4. Write a two-message flow. Message 1 delivers the link and asks whether it is for them or someone else. Message 2 offers a second resource or a consultation link.
  5. Capture an email on the resource page, with clear consent for follow-up.
  6. Route any reply that mentions a real incident to intake within five minutes (playbook 15).

Step 2: Borrow audiences through podcasts and collaborations

One strong appearance on an established show can do more than months of solo posting. The host publishes the full conversation, you clip it into 8 to 15 short posts, and collaboration posts put each clip in front of both audiences.

Show type Why it helps a firm Example targets
Local business and community podcasts Reaches referral sources and local consumers Chamber of commerce shows, local news podcasts
Adjacent-profession shows Reaches professionals who refer clients Chiropractic, physical therapy, financial planning and HR podcasts
Legal industry shows Builds peer referrals and co-counsel relationships Practice-management and trial-lawyer podcasts
Large general shows Mass reach and authority Business, money and self-improvement podcasts

Hosts book a point of view and a story, not credentials. Pitch one angle: “Why most accident victims lose money in the first 72 hours: five mistakes people make in the first three days, with anonymized examples and what to do instead.” Agree clipping and collaboration rights before recording, and return the favor by featuring the host on your own channels.

Step 3: Film once, publish everywhere

Build the format on the platform where your buyer scrolls and short video is judged fastest, then post the same video everywhere else with only the caption changed. Do not make separate content for each platform until one format has proven itself.

Buyer First platform Repurpose to
Consumers (PI, family, immigration, criminal defense, estate planning) Instagram Reels or TikTok YouTube Shorts, Facebook, LinkedIn
Business owners and executives LinkedIn video Instagram, YouTube Shorts
Referral attorneys and the legal industry LinkedIn Instagram, newsletter
Local consumers searching on Google YouTube Shorts and Google Business Profile video Instagram

Turn each winner into seven assets: a Reel, a TikTok, a YouTube Short, a LinkedIn video, a carousel built from the script, a newsletter section and a website FAQ answer with the video embedded. The FAQ version also helps search engines and AI assistants find and quote your answer.

Guardrails

  • Automated DMs are communications about your services; they must not be misleading (Model Rule 7.1) and should identify the firm.
  • Do not give legal advice in automated replies, and move sensitive details to a secure intake form.
  • DM sequences must stay replies to people who engaged, not unsolicited outreach (Model Rule 7.3). Email and text follow-up need consent (CAN-SPAM, TCPA).
  • On podcasts, discuss general principles, never pending matters. Paid placements presented as editorial are advertising and need disclosure.
  • Reciprocal referral understandings must be non-exclusive and disclosed to clients (Model Rule 7.2(b)(4)). A disclaimer required on one platform is required on all.

What to measure

  • Comments per post with a keyword versus without, and DM-to-email conversion.
  • Email-to-consultation rate over 60 days.
  • Views, follows and inquiries from collaboration posts versus solo posts.
  • Inquiries by platform for the same video.

30-day checklist

  • Create one specific, attorney-reviewed resource and its keyword
  • Set up the comment-to-DM automation and the five-minute intake route
  • List 20 target shows and send 20 angle-led pitches
  • Choose your first platform based on the buyer
  • Repurpose your top two videos into all seven assets
